Hi, I'm Rick Maharaj

I design and build particle detectors for Canada's National Centre for Particle and Nuclear Physics. I have been blessed to work on such high profile projects as the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, an anti-matter Time Projection Chamber and during the pandemic I was selected to be on a small international team to develop economical ventilators. The science lab is my playground and I have worked there for over 35 years.

I enjoy my work life and family time immensely, yet there was a time when I secretly wanted more. More of what? I wasn't sure, so I started to explore what "more" was, this was the beginning of my healing and my spiritual journey.

In 2007, on a quaint little Gulf Island off the coast of Vancouver, British Columbia, I enrolled in a communications course that had me vulnerably expressing myself in front of a group of strangers. Since that course I have spent thousands of hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars on my personal development and healing. 

Transformational workshops, Breathwork, Bio-Energy Healing and Soul Liberation workshops are just some of the programs where I have learned to heal myself and create Freedom in all areas of my life.

I also started experimenting with meditation around that same time, for years I tried various styles and techniques, but I had difficulty staying in a consistent practice. It wasn't until I joined a loving group of souls in a meditation based mastermind group, where I was held accountable to my goals, that I developed a deeply connected and consistent practice. My meditation practice allowed me to create much inner Freedom which leads to outer Freedom in our external reality.

My practice led me to offering guided healing meditations at the science lab, which was quite interesting as the science of meta physics and spirituality were not really considered science. Yet my offering was well received and my sessions well attended. My meditations expanded into the online space where I could share it with more of my community. I also started a mens group to provide a safe place for men to be able to express themselves without shame or judgement.

I have always lead groups of people in some capacity, from leading sports teams into competition on the playing field to leading workshops and coaching groups in personal development programs.

I have been married to Shashi Bhushan Maharaj, my beautiful wife and spiritual partner for the past 30 years and we have raised 3 beautiful children who are loving, nurturing and living with passion and purpose.

People have heralded me as a Healer, a Shaman, a Vedic Philosopher, I am all of these and none of these. These labels can only describe a sliver of who I am. What I know is that I am here to serve my community and to free them from the bonds that hold them back.

Whether it's Inner Freedom, Outer Freedom or Financial Freedom, helping my community create Freedom in their lives is the best way to I can serve.
